Understanding Alert Thresholds

Alert thresholds determine when Stock Sentry notifies you about potential stockouts.

How Thresholds Work

Stock Sentry calculates days of inventory remaining for each variant using:

  • Current inventory level
  • Average daily sales velocity
  • Seasonal adjustments (when enabled)

When days remaining crosses a threshold, an alert is generated.

Critical (Red)3 daysImminent stockoutEmergency action

Critical is automatic - always triggers at 3 days or less.

Choosing Your Thresholds

Consider these factors:

1. Supplier Lead Time

  • 3-day lead time: Warning at 5-7 days
  • 7-day lead time: Warning at 10-14 days
  • 14-day lead time: Warning at 21-30 days

2. Product Importance

  • Best sellers: Higher thresholds (14-21 days)
  • Moderate sellers: Default (7-14 days)
  • Slow movers: Lower thresholds (5-10 days)

3. Demand Volatility

  • Steady sales: Default works well
  • Seasonal: Higher thresholds during peak
  • Promotional: Temporarily increase before campaigns
