Troubleshooting: Not Receiving Alerts

If you're not receiving expected inventory alerts, follow these troubleshooting steps.

Check Alert Settings

  1. Navigate to Settings
  2. Verify Alert Thresholds are configured
  3. Ensure Email Notifications are enabled
  4. Check that severity levels are selected

Verify Email Settings

Check Spam Folder

Alerts may be filtered as spam. Check your:

  • Spam/Junk folder
  • Promotions tab (Gmail)
  • Clutter folder (Outlook)

Solution: Add alerts@stocksentry.retailforge.app to contacts

Verify Email Address

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Check email address is correct
  3. Update if needed
  4. Save changes

Check Product Status

Alerts only generate for products that meet ALL criteria:

Requirements

  • [YES] Product is active in Shopify
  • [YES] Inventory is tracked for the variant
  • [YES] Product has sales history (3 or more sales in lookback period)
  • [YES] Current stock is below threshold
  • [YES] Velocity calculation is possible

Common Issues

  • No sales history: New products don't have data yet
  • Inventory not tracked: Enable tracking in Shopify
  • Stock above threshold: Product is healthy
  • Product archived: Inactive products excluded

Check Velocity Data

If a product should alert but doesn't:

  1. View product in dashboard
  2. Check Daily Velocity column
  3. Verify sales in last 14 days
  4. Confirm current stock level

Manual Recalculation

Force Stock Sentry to recalculate:

  1. Navigate to Settings
  2. Scroll to "Advanced"
  3. Click Recalculate All Alerts
  4. Wait 2-3 minutes for completion

Still Not Working?

Contact support with:

  • Product name and SKU
  • Expected vs actual behavior
  • Screenshot of Settings page
  • Recent order history
